There are miles of golden sandy beaches in the area.  

Watergate Bay beach is the closest to The Smugglers Inn, just a couple of miles away.  There is up to 3 miles of beach when the tide is out, more than enough room for both sandcastles and surfboards!  Watergate also has a couple of surf shops to treat yourself, and equipment hire shops if you're feeling energetic.

Fistral beach at Newquay is popular for surfing, and has a Bar, shops, cafe and surf hire.  Also, in and around Newquay there is Towan beach, Tolcarne, Great Western, Lusty Glaze, Porth, Whipsiderry.

The other way you have Mawgan Porth, Porthcothan (my favourite), Treyarnon, Constantine, Trevone, Harlyn, before arriving at Padstow, where you can catch a ferry to Rock.

All beautiful beaches, although not all allow dogs in the Summer.
